		Sun Dancer Exits Drydock, Plus Holiday Greetings!
		The Sun Dancer II, PHD's flagship Caribbean live-aboard, recently underwent an extensive drydock this past fall more than $ 500,000, in fact, and she emerges from the shipyard with extensive credentials to the claim to be "The Queen of the Carribean". Sun Dancer II is certainly spacious by any live-aboard standard, and particularly spacious in terms of Caribbean live-aboards. But the new amenities vault Sun Dancer ahead of the pack of competing vessels and put her in a class by herself. Here's what we did. Main engines rebuilt, both generators rebuilt, hull sand blasted to bare metal and repainted, propellers, rudders, and shafts all tested and trued, two high speed compressors installed, all fire and safety systems tested, tuned and certified, plus a host of other "tech" upgrades to our engineering and diving systems. Many of these are fairly standard "boatyard" procedures for all of our Dancer Fleet^TM vessels, ensuring they are in the best possible shape to deliver top quality diving for our guests, day in and day out. But, in Sun Dancer's case, we elected to install quite a bit of expensive new equipment rather than just upgrade and test the standard equipment. Most divers will never notice the extensive engineering and safety features that are constantly maintained and upgraded on our Dancer Fleet^TM vessels. And you shouldn't have to, you're there to enjoy the diving and cruising! So, from a guest's perspective, the "new" Sun Dancer II starts with all new carpeting throughout the vessel, completely refurbished cabins, a new galley even Martha Stewart would be proud of, upgraded air conditioning systems, and a new state-of-the-art dive deck, including upgrades to our Nitrox Station. And then we got serious about guest amenities in the cabins: New Flat Screen LCD televisions in all cabins New DVD players in each cabin Push Button Flushing systems for heads New Stearns and Foster Mattresses New pillows, linens, bath towels Plus new electronics for the main salon (Bring your IPOD or MP3 players): Bose IPOD Docking station, linked to our entertainment system New Sirius Satellite Radio System Brand New Sound System and Speakers New Upholstery throughout the salon New 50" Flat Screen TV and Video Playback Systems And, to top it off, we upgraded our Sea-Wave Communication System which allows Email and Satellite phone connections at any time (additional charges apply for this service). So, Sun Dancer II will greet 2008 with serious credentials as "The Queen of the Caribbean". At least, we think so. What's more important is what you think! 		The prestigious National Geographic Traveler recently ranked the islands of the Caribbean for tourism suitability and Tobago (66), Grenada (59), and the Grenadines (77) all scored very high. Other popular diving destinations in the Caribbean: Providenciales (44), Roatan, Bay Islands (47), Grand Cayman (47), Cozumel (47), Bonaire (68), Dominica (77). The Grenadines and Dominica received the highest possible scores of all of the destinations. Dominica's natural topography (vertical drop-offs very close to shore) does not provide good anchorages for live-aboards, although the diving is superb, like the Grenadines. The complete National Geo report may be seen at (click here) Belize, located on the Carribean coast and having off-shore diving in the atolls in the Caribbean, was not rated as it is usually grouped with other mainland Central American destinations in these types of travel ratings.
